About Kakamega Forest Heritage Foundation
The Kakamega Forest Heritage Foundation is a charitable organization founded and registered in 2015 under The Companies Act (Chapter 486 of the Laws of Kenya). It was primarily founded with the objective of complementing the efforts of the Kenya Government, of restoring and conserving the Kakamega Forest, the only Guinea-Congoliantype rain forest remaining in Kenya today.
Our Vision
To be a well organized and vibrant Foundation in restoring and conserving the Kakamega Forest as well as promoting sustainable development among Forest ecosystem communities.
Our Mission
To promote and nurture a culture of resource mobilization through advocacy and networking for restoring and conserving the Kakamega Forest.
Our Focus
As a road map to achieving its objectives, the Foundation has set up two core intervention funds including, The Conservation Fund, and The Empowerment Fund.
Get Involved
Every year, we hold a series of events to keep the message of conservation of the forest at the top of the mind of everyone in the region, and in the country. These include donations to schools in the local communities, health/medical camps, nature walks, tree planting camps, and the climax, the Kakamega forest marathon.
